Recent App Store Algorithm Change And Advices For ASO Makers

On Nov 3rd we monitored some  sudden changes on keyword rankings in App Store. A lot written about the algorithm change and now we know something is different inside the App Store.

Here is what happened bullet by bullet according to our latest analysis:

  • Suddenly competitors appeared in branded keyword searches. For example when you search Badoo you will see more dating apps in search results than ever.

  • It is a little bit harder for new apps to rank in branded keywords even they use those keywords in the keyword spot.
  • An old ancient ASO technique to use brand names and app names is not welcome by Apple anymore.
  • Instead Apple is making the game more fair.
  • Use more relevant keywords in your keyword spot, do not fully load it with brand/app names

Use the most suitable category for your app since you may increase your chance to be listed in your competitor’s name search results.
